HagerSmith Design worked with Wake County in every step of the Permitting Department renovation to create a one-stop permitting area that is user-friendly for customers while it meets the needs of the employees. Programming, space planning, construction documents, custom millwork design, generation of furniture bid packages, and furniture selection were main facets of this project. One of the biggest challenges in the space was the development of a plan that worked in harmony with the existing elements that the County wanted to preserve—specifically, the service counters that have been in the space since its pre-County days as a bank. HagerSmith Design created new millwork that echoes the look of the original millwork but is also ADA compliant and more functional to the needs of the Permitting Department.
