Our Core Values
At HagerSmith Design, we recognize the growing awareness our clients share on the impact commercial buildings have on the environment, and its’ resources.  We are also sensitive to an increasing need for companies to lower operation costs, to improve the physical environment for their employees and raise productivity, and to compete in a market steeped in “going green.” Sustainable design is smart design, because it unites ecological responsibility with financial productivity. Nothing excites us more than to partner with those who share a unified vision of what makes a building successful: functionality, cost-effectiveness, efficiency, beauty, and eco-friendliness.  We’re committed to these basic tenets of design and embrace the challenge of leaving our world a better place than when we started.
Our Culture

In early 2008, our firm formed a Green Committee to help spearhead efforts in the office to “live what we preach,” and to become an innovator in community outreach and education.  From basic procedure to the infrastructure of our office, HagerSmith is changing the way we do business.

Policies and procedures have been implemented that include:
* no mass-packaging for company lunches
* telecommuting availability
* compensation for public transportation or carpool.

We’ve started a successful free Green Lunch & Learn Series, showcasing a speaker with expertise in various arenas of sustainable design principles and practices. These lunches are free and open to our clientele, university students, design professionals, and municipal leaders.  We recognize sustainability to be a synergistic series of rapidly evolving technologies and the importance of continually keeping ourselves and interested members of the community informed

View our calendar of events on our Outreach page to see when our next Lunch & Learn will be

We offer a free presentation to clients who desire to know more about green building, the LEED rating system and the financial benefits of sustainable decisions.

Our goal is to make the people we work with better informed when speaking with their own clients, and doing what we can to make green design accessible to all.

If you are interested in learning more about the LEED rating system email Jim Smith, AIA, LEED AP to schedule a presentation
