Faced with the common problem of “do we stay or do we go,” ABB hired HagerSmith Design back in 2012 to do a space analysis of their current facility on Centennial Campus. With goals of increased density, improved workflow, and more efficient use of space, HagerSmith performed employee interviews, studied the work culture and analyzed inefficiencies to produce a comprehensive report of space usage. Ultimately, ABB chose to take up residency in the brand new Alliance Center, across the street.
From there, HagerSmith walked through space planning, schematic design and design development with the Employee Experience Team, permitting the project in summer of 2014. Working closely with Storr Office Environments, HagerSmith aided in furniture selection and coordination. The unique, all-glass “cube” feature on each of the three floors they occupy house the board room, a “think tank,” a conferencing center, an all-staff training room and catering functions. The operating area features sit-to-stand workstations, optimal views to the exterior for all employees, a centralized lounge with booth seating and a varied assortment of meeting spaces, both open and closed, for collaboration.
