This project started as an RFP from North Carolina State University to complete a feasibility study by developer teams for a unique project on the heavily sloped adjacent site next to the existing College of Textiles, located on NCSU’s Centennial Campus. HagerSmith teamed with local developer Keystone Corporation to succeed in securing the project and completed the study in November of 2014. The result of the study found that approximately 40,000 sf of industrial space needed by NCSU’s Non-Woven Institute(NWI) could indeed be built into the side of the steep slope. An additional 60,000 Sf (two stories) of office/lab could then stack on top of this space. A 6 level parking deck supplies parking for the building tenants, and bridges over to the building on the second level. The NWI space houses a large spunbond machine that requires a combination of 26’ and 50’ clear high bay space. The project is certified LEED Silver.
