Grifols, a Barcelona headquartered biotechnology company is just completing their newest single largest project in Clayton. Grifols develops and produces plasma-related therapies and they are currently the largest private employer in the county.
Situated on the east end of their 1000-acre Johnston County campus, PFF (Purification and Final Filling) is a 3 story, 150,000 SF high bay facility housing the final production processes prior to packing and shipment. HagerSmith Design was brought on early in the planning process to assist with the code and risk management concerns. After working closely with their internal team for several months, we are engaged to complete the construction documents for the $30M shell building.
Key to the success of this project was the close coordination and strategic placement of numerous large vessels and the management and planning for miles of piping and controls. Along with developing this new facility we also provided renovations to an adjacent gowning building and designed a new independent chiller facility and tank farm to service PFF.
