MDC Hill Building Renovation

Durham, NC

The Georgian Revival style 4-story, 25,000 square feet “Old Hill Building” was originally constructed in 1925.  HagerSmith was hired through a partnership with Self-Help and the current owner, MDC, to renovate the space to house the MDC family.  The scope of the project was a major interior renovation including minor exterior and structural renovations. Interior renovations included creating open spaces for collaboration and open offices, interior transoms at interior offices and meeting rooms to maximize natural light, accent paint to modernize the space, repurposing original hardwood floors, millwork design, finish selections, and furniture consulting to include an art gallery reflective of the company’s purpose.
