HagerSmith began working with NetApp in 2007 with Building II in the RTP campus. It was a cold dark shell. Our scope included the design of the office environment, extensive conferencing and training facilities, an executive briefing center, and the entire building systems infrastructure. The 3 story 154,000 SF project was constructed with a construction cost of $12,000,000, not including furniture and furnishings. Key to the design was flexibility in the workstation areas, technology applications in the working conference rooms, and convenience and functionality in the common work spaces. Another key design consideration was the client’s desire to keep a sense of visual continuity from one building to the next. This was achieved by the use of color and form in the crafting of the common spaces. Following on the success of the B2 project, HagerSmith has been almost continually engaged in design work in RTP and on the newly acquired Wichita, Kansas campus. Additional projects include a state of the art executive briefing center, a 400 seat full service cafeteria, a 10,000 SF fitness center, a “telepresence” conference facility, another 175,000 SF of office space, customer training facility and courtyard/patio space.
The courtyard and patio serves as a hub of activity for the 4 building Corporate Campus. The buildings are organized around an internal patio and courtyard. The main portion of the patio is adjacent to the corporate cafeteria and provides outdoor dining for employees. The courtyard also plays host numerous company events and receptions. It can accommodate seating of upwards of 500 people and overlooks a wildlife viewing area.
